Our story

Built one tower at a time.

Crowsnest Broadband started with a single fiber circuit and a single tower. Today our network spans 70+ tower sites and 200+ points of presence across Central Pennsylvania and Western Maryland.

  1. 2019

One fiber circuit, one tower, one customer

By July 2019 we had established our first fiber circuit, equipped our first tower and connected our first customer.

  2. 2020

    Building through the pandemic

As demand for reliable broadband surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, we rapidly expanded our network—building more than 40 tower sites and bringing high-speed Internet to rural communities when connectivity mattered more than ever.

  3. 2024

    WISPA Operator of the Year

The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association named Crowsnest Broadband its 2024 Operator of the Year.

  4. 2025

    A new home for Crowsnest

We opened our new headquarters in Altoona, complete with a state-of-the-art data center and 100 Gbps network infrastructure—built to support the next stage of Crowsnest Broadband's growth.

  5. 2026

    Fiber for rural Blair County*

We expanded our fiber network across Blair County with 70 route miles of new fiber, passing more than 1,000 rural homes and businesses.

*This Project was financed in part by a grant from the federal Department of Treasury, under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority.

Built for rural Pennsylvania

Towers, rooftops, even farm silos.

Across the region, our equipment sits wherever it best reaches the homes and farms around it, including on local farm silos.
